Wine Basics 101:
This is the ideal introduction to the fundamentals of wine tasting!
This course designed to create a strong developing students' confidence about wine. This class will introduce the basic concepts of wine appreciation, including the “Four S’s” and “Three V’s”.  Featured wines will be sampled by means of side-by-side comparisons of four white varietals and four red varietals, with a special treat for dessert! Wine Basics 101 is highly recommended as a primer for our more advanced classes.

 Wine Exploration:
This intermediate to advanced series of courses is designed to broaden the wine enthusiast’s knowledge with structured wine tasting together with experienced instruction. The courses delve into all the major grape varietals of wine, regions and terroir around the globe - plus the culture, cuisine, geography, history, and characteristics that bring the world of wine to life!

Geography of Wine:
Beginning with a information packed Wine Basics 101 course, we then cover the historical origins of the varieties of wines--from the Roman legions who took cuttings throughout the Empire. Over the next 2,000 years, the vines adapted to their "terroir"--their microclimates and soils, to become the varietals that we know today.  During the colonial era of exploration, these varietals were planted in similar climate regions on the other four wine-producing continents around the world. Using Google Earth, we will fly from regions of origin to new viticultural areas, zooming in on the vineyards, talking about their local environments and histories. This seminar series is unique to WINEOLOGY. Join and see why this is such a popular course!
